Wellington finished top of the table in the Men's first grade competition after the regular season and were set to face Newtown in week one of the finals with the winner of the match going straight through to the grand final.
Wellington's Brandon Carter knows the side were disappointed to not have the chance to play in the finals.
"[We are] Disappointed with the way it's had to end," he said.
"I'm proud of the boys though.
"Finishing on top is a great achievement and for the town as well.
"But it is a shame we didn't get to play Newtown with a full-strength side."

On the bright side, Carter was pleased the call was made so early to abandon the season rather than waiting for what could be another few weeks until lockdown eases in regional NSW.
"I'm glad they made the call early rather just waiting," he said.
"No one knows what's going to happen with COVID-19 at the moment."
While they finished as minor premiers, Wellington will return next season hoping to replicate the success they had this year and Carter believes the majority of the squad should return.
"Pretty much," he said.
"I'm not sure how many of the solar farmers are going to be around but a lot of our usual guys will be happy to get a run."
While the solar farmers have helped Wellington this season, Carter knows a group of young footballers who have come through the grades at the club make the future exciting lead by first grade captain Nick Streicher who has become a wonderful leader for the side.
"For sure," he said.
"A lot of people were going to say it was just the solar farmers who did all the work but we've had a few young guys develop over the years.
"We've had these guys for a number of years and now they are starting to come into their own."
