Blake Stephen Riley, 28, was spotted driving a silver Ford Falcon while avoiding main roads in West Dubbo about 12.15am on April 24 this year.
As Riley made his way from Victoria Street over to Wattle Street, the Ford Falcon was seen accelerating quickly as it weaved through back streets.
Police stopped Riley on Wattle Street for a breath test, when officers noticed two passengers, inside the vehicle.
According to court documents, the passengers were known to police, which led to further suspicion of drug-related offences.
When asked about his association with the passengers, police said Riley was "vague".
"He did not know them well and observations of the vehicle by police did not support his claim of giving them a lift home from the Milestone Hotel," court documents read.
"The demeanours of the accused during the interaction was very nervous, his hands were visibly shaking and he was struggling with words."
Under suspicions, police searched the vehicle and located a men's shoulder bag between Riley's legs.
Inside they found a resealable bag containing 6.6 grams of cannabis, and a black spring-loaded expandable baton.
According to court documents the baton fitted the definition of a prohibited weapon under the Weapon Prohibition Act 1998.
Riley admitted to owning the cannabis telling police it was for "personal use", but claimed he didn't own the baton saying, "it's not mine ... it's a window breaker".
In Dubbo Local Court last Wednesday, Riley pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited drug and possessing a prohibited weapon.
Defence lawyer Carmen Just argued the offence was of the low objective of seriousness, and the small amount of cannabis was for personal use.
She said Riley had a limited criminal record, and pleaded guilty to the offences early.
Magistrate Gary Wilson convicted and fined Riley $750.
