Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the $40 million upgrades, funded by the State and Federal Governments, are on track to be finished by the end of the year.
"This work has been a long time coming to reduce congestion at one of Dubbo's busiest intersections and it's great to see we're on the home stretch," Mr Saunders said.
"This work will involve widening the road, creating dedicated turning lanes and installing permanent traffic lights to create smoother and more efficient journeys for all motorists."
As part of this next stage of work, temporary traffic signals will be switched off and a temporary roundabout installed, before permanent traffic signals are switched on at the end of the year.
The new, permanent traffic lights are on track to be switched on and this upgrade work completed on schedule, before the end of the year.
Diversions will be in place from 7pm on Friday 13 August, via Baird Street and Young Street, with access blocked through the intersection, until 7am on Monday 16 August.
Work will be carried out day and night, with night work planned to minimise the impact to the wider community and the noisiest work to be completed prior to midnight.
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of all signs and traffic control, including reduced speed limits.
