With just three rounds remaining, the competition is starting to heat up as Westside are battling for a top two spot with Wellington, Newtown and RSL 78's.
Macquarie captain Tim Groth felt it good for his side to get a win against one of the top teams in the competition so far this year.
"It was a good win," he said.
"They're a bit above us on the table so it was good to get one over them.
"They are a bit younger than us as well."

Manu Thomas and Brayden Smith both scored for Macquarie but it was the latter's goal which sealed the win for United who now sit in sixth position on the ladder.
Groth felt Smith's goal was a long time coming after edging closer and closer throughout the match.
"It just good team build up," he said.
"We got it wide and Brayden was in the right spot.
"He'd be around there all game but finally got one to go in."
The third consecutive win has Groth pleased after the first grade side have been forced to play two games in a weekend for much of the season after the club's Western Premier League side have battled injuries all year.
"It is good," he said.
"We've finally got some consistent numbers on the paddock in both grades.
"We don't have everyone backing up each week which seems to help."
Groth feels it may be a little too late for Macquarie to push for a finals place this year but is pleased with his side taking down some of the best teams in the competition in the last three weeks.
"It is yeah," he said.
"It is probably a little too late for us but it is good to couple of wins and hopefully built on it for next season."
The Macquarie skipper was very straight forward about what he would like his side to produce over the remaining rounds of this season.
"I'd like to get three wins," he said.
"That's pretty well it, nice and simple."
Groth feels Westside could sit amongst the top sides in the competition for years to come with a handful of young players coming through the grades.
"They're definitely on the improve," he said.
"They have got lots of good youth coming through and I think they will be good for the next few years and really challenge for the title."
Groth believes another young side in Newtown will take out this seasons competition and feels a returning player has the ability to star in the finals.
"Newtown would be my pick,"
"They've just got that Ethan Willets back again and he can play.
"I think everyone else is a fair step behind."
In the round's other games, Newtown defeated Wellington 2-0 to close the game between the top two sides.
RSL 78's grabbed 3-2 win over Orana Spurs while Bulls beat the Wanderers 8-0.
