"The FRNSW slogan is prepared for anything, so in order to be prepared for anything, you've got to be practicing and keeping those skills updated."
As part of the drill the crew practiced raising the 10.5 metre extension ladder and run through protocols with their breathing apparatus.
"Communication is also very important via two-way radios between fire attack crew and the officer in command," captain Jones said.
Captain Jones said each month it was important for the crew to be practicing real-life scenarios within the community.
"This month we were tasked with multi-storey buildings and thought we'd give the pub a go," he said.
"It's good for the community to see us in action, and hopefully makes them feel a bit more confident in the case of an emergency that we can actually do our job."
FRNSW station 401 will have their next training day on July 27 at Timbrebongie house, with a senior instructor coming out to share their knowledge and experience.
