Retail spending in April was also up almost 40 per cent compared to last year, creating a strong buffer before any effects of the school holiday lockdown are felt.
While some businesses have been crying out for financial help since the end of Jobkeeper, the NSW Government has yet to announce any plans for further aid, other than to say "the door is open for support from the Commonwealth".
But Dubbo Chamber of Commerce President Matt Wright said the end of Jobkeeper hasn't been the death knell many were expecting.
"The end of jobkeeper was a bit of a blip on the radar here compared to our city counterparts," Mr Wright said.
"A lot of reports we had over the September, December, even into the March quarter, was that a lot of businesses were experiencing record sales."

Retail figures in April show spending was up 37 per cent compared to the same period last year - and while it's worth noting that April 2020 was when everything shut down due to Covid-19, the figures also show positive results for occupancy and "attraction patronage".
The number of Seek Job adverts in June was 601 - the highest monthly figure in three years.
"That indicates there is a need to fill jobs, which means a lot of businesses are operating at capacity - they have room to expand and grow.
"The shock of the last two weeks comes off the back of a period when things were booming," Mr Wright said.
"Unfortunately the accommodation and hospitality businesses will suffer (as a result of the lockdown)."
