Police from Wellington are investigating the theft of a firearm from a property near Mount Arthur earlier this month, with power tools also taken during the break and enter.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District began an investigation after responding to reports of the theft, discovering a padlock had been cut from a gate at a property on Spilsbury Lane.
The offender or offenders then forced entry to a gun safe and stole a Baikal, side-by-side, 12-gauge, double-barreled shotgun, bearing the serial number 27685. The frame ID of the firearm is 705179397 and the barrel ID 705179400.
A Husqvarna chain saw and carry case, which contained two spare chains, was also stolen during the break and enter and blue power drill was taken as well.

The theft is believed to have occurred between June 18 and June 21.
Investigations continue, with police asking anyone with information regarding the theft to come forward by contacting the Wellington station on 02 6840 2099, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au.
