Franklin and Scooter from Learners on Leads were accompanied by Karen Johnston and Melissa Dunkerley.
Ms Dunkerley and Franklin had the role of reading the story of choice, Next Door's Dog Is A Therapy Dog written by Gina Dawson.
The storytime was an opportunity for children to learn about the role of community dogs like therapy dogs and those alike.
Scooter and Franklin visit various people as a form of therapy from nursing homes, hospitals to house visits and sometimes they will even go to community events.
"They visit people quite regularly. Scooter does it a lot, he does it three times a week," Ms Johnston said.
"He goes to nursing homes and visits elderly people and they get to talk to him, pet him and give him a cuddle."
Ms Dunkerley said Franklin loved his job as a therapy dog.
"Franklin loves if he gets a cuddle or a treat, he loves affection," she said.
"I think he loves it more than people love cuddling him."
Ms Johnston said one very important thing to remember was to always ask the owner if it's okay to pet their dog before going ahead and doing it.
