School to Work also aims to inspire and equip students with disability, through the support of families, to seek meaningful, paid employment in the community.
The School to Work workshop aims to bring families together to connect and increase their confidence in seeking out meaningful, paid employment for their secondary school student with disability.
Participants will be able to hear the stories and experiences of people with disability and their family members, learn about their practical tips and strategies and will leave with concrete plans to help find work for their secondary student with disability.
The workshop will focus on uncovering student strengths and interests, identifying conditions that help set up a student for success, identifying community community connections and contacts, practical strategies and tips, developing positive pitches for jobs and exploring what good employment support looks like.
Resourcing Inclusive Communities is an initiative of Family Advocacy with an aim of providing ideas, workshops and resources to support people with disability across NSW to live meaningful lives.
The workshop will run at the Cattleman's Country Motor Inn on Wednesday, June 23 from 9:15am to 4pm.
