EMPLOYEES at Suntop Solar Farm near Wellington have been back-paid more than $100,000 after a system error saw meal breaks incorrectly applied to their wage.

The Electrical Trades Union investigation showed employees engaged by labour hire firm Spinifex Recuriting were not paid for the 20 minute overtime meal break they were entitled to under the award.
A spokesperson for Spinifex Recruiting said it was a "system error in regard to overtime and how meal breaks were applied."

Electricial Trades Union NSW and ACT branch deputy secretary Allen Hicks said it was as a result of their investigation $102,082.53 had been paid back to staff.
"This is a win for our members but our work doesn't stop here ... we will continue to expose clean energy's dirty secrets by keeping a close eye on solar farms across the state," he said.
"The ETU will not stop fighting on behalf of our members, holding companies and their contractors to account when they fail to meet their obligations."
