A fire has caused extensive damage to a motel in Dubbo, with two police officers transported to hospital with smoke inhalation as a result.

Police have set up a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire at the Homestead Motel on Cobra Street, which emergency services responded to at about 6.15pm on Thursday evening.
Occupants were immediately evacuate from the motel while Fire and Rescue NSW crews knocked down the blaze, which reportedly gutted six rooms at the motel.
Around 18 firefighters were dispatched to the incident, with two police officers treated for minor smoke inhalation on the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and transported to Dubbo Hospital not long afterward.
They were released a short time later, with no reports of injuries to any other people. All guests at the motel were accounted for.
