While in previous years students and other environmental activists took to Dubbo streets bearing posters, this year protesters will deliver the message from inside their cars.
The protest is one of several held across the country each year.
Locally, the protest is led by Dubbo Environment Group with the aim of drawing attention to current issues said to be 'significantly' affecting our climate.
This year, similarly to previous years, the message protesters will deliver to Government is to #FundOurFutureNotGas.
Dubbo Environment Group president Margaret McDonald said the climate strike aims to demand 'the Morrison Government' start 'backing First Nations solutions to protect Country.'
"The Morrison Government could be protecting our climate, land and water, and creating thousands of new jobs by growing Australia's renewable energy sector and backing First Nations solutions to protect Country," she said.
"Instead, they are lining the pockets of multinational gas companies, which are fuelling the climate crisis, devastating our land and water, wrecking our health and creating very few jobs.
"On May 21 2021, we're striking to tell the Morrison Government that if they care about our future, they must stop throwing money at gas."
Ms McDonald and other group members will be at the Sir Roden Cutler Park in West Dubbo from 8.30am this Friday handing out free car banners for fellow protesters.
Protestors are being asked to put the banners on their car and participate in a drive along the Newell Highway.
"We ask that participants park their car at the top of Sir Roden Cutler Park along the Newell Highway," she said.
"Collect one of our banners and display it on your car.
"Any time that you can participate in the protest would be greatly appreciated."
While peaceful protesting in NSW is not illegal, protesters who are caught breaking the law in any form while protesting are subject to the authorities.
Students who wish to participate are being asked to do so responsibly.
Participants can RSVP at https://actionnetwork.org/events/dubbo-may-21-climatestrike.
The protesting will start from 8.30am and run until about midday on Friday, May 21, starting from the West Dubbo end of the Newell Highway.
