The Dubbo Show Society made the decision on Monday not to accept ticket sales that used the government vouchers, at the gate over the three days.
Residents are still able to use their vouchers to purchase their entry tickets or ride tickets at the secretary office up until Thursday afternoon, or online via 123Tix.com up until Sunday afternoon.
"After monitoring our ticket sales and in light of the need to register everyone by name as they enter, we have made the decision to not accept Dine and Discover Vouchers at the gate," the society posted on their Facebook page on Monday morning.
The decision was made to "reduce excessive queuing, delays and crowing" at any of the entry points at the show.
Dubbo Show Society secretary Sue Hood said it was just 'too difficult' to transfer all the data they needed at the gate, and therefore they were encouraging people to get their tickets before they came to the show.
"For those that purchase online, they can have their tickets on their phone then, they don't have to print them out, it's just scanned when they walk in," Mrs Hood said.
"We strongly recommend you purchase before going to the show."
Mrs Hood said the society was already very happy with the amount of tickets already sold.
"The discover vouchers have been great."
The show will once again hold their fireworks event on Saturday night at 8pm, and the crowd-drawing rides, pavilions and animal judging will all be available. Woodchopping will be a one-day event.
Former NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, who was also named the 2021 NSW Australian of the Year, will officially open the show on Saturday afternoon.
The number of sales comes following the cancellation of the Dubbo Show in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time.
The three-day show traditionally attracts about 20,000 people.
This year, each of those attending the show will have to be registered, including children who are under five and not charged to enter the show.
