Molly had invited Ms Apps to join in on the Footy Colours Day celebrations being held at her school, St John's College, but what was meant to be a Zoom catch up ended up being an in-person reunion.
Molly reflected on the very moment the NRLW St George Illawarra Dragons player jumped out to surprise her.
"I was so shocked and very confused to see Kezie. I had no idea she was coming," she said.
Ms Apps jokingly said Molly's reaction was that of a "stunned mullet".
"I walked out and, I don't know what I was expecting, but [Molly] was just blank. Like, nothing," Ms Apps laughed.
But the surprise visit to Dubbo from Kezie means more to Molly than one could possibly imagine.
Molly, who was diagnosed with cancer on her 12th birthday in 2018, made a promise to herself to spend every day of the rest of her life paying it forward if she was to receive the all-clear.
That promise includes her position to take on the role as an ambassador for Footy Colours Day, a critical fundraising event for the Fight Cancer Foundation.
"Anything that comes my way that is an opportunity for me to pay it forward, I am there for 100 per cent," Molly said.
"The Fight Cancer Foundation supports a program that helps kids once they're back at school, and they've helped me now I'm back at school with things like tutoring, so as soon as they came to me I was straight on board," Molly said.
"Having Kezie [a Footy Colours Day player ambassador] visit me today means the absolute world to me."
