Tough six-year-old gelding Ocean Hero backed up from finishing third in the Merriwa Cup on Saturday to win the Nyngan Cup (1400m) one day later.

Owned and trained by Michael Lunn from Dubbo and ridden by Andrew Banks, Ocean Hero ($3) was slowly away in the feature event at Nyngan's annual ANZAC Day meet.
After circling the field to be sixth on the home turn, he cleared out to win by more than five lengths from Valadyium ( Jake Pracey-Holmes, $5) and Better Strike (Elissa Meredith, $17).

First leg of a double for Lunn was Geesheehan, which broke through after 22 starts to win the Maiden Plate (900m).
Geesheehan (Pracey-Holmes, $2.50 favourite) shared the lead then kicked away to score by four-and-a-half lengths from Travstar (Clayton Gallagher, $2.60) and Cinders (Nyssa Burrells, $4.60).
Parkes trainer Sharon Jeffries built on a good record at Nyngan when landing a winning double with Club Supreme and Thee Jenner.
In the Nyngan Bowling Club Class 1 Handicap (1100m), Club Supreme ($4) ran off the track near the home turn yet was able to beat Orezira (James Rogers, $12) and Preston (Dylan Stanley, $12).
Apprentice Liam Blanch did a good job to win on Club Supreme but hit the ground just after the winning post and then stood down from riding at the rest of the meeting.
Another Dubbo based apprentice, Angela Cooper, replaced Blanch on Thee Jenner ($9), which led by four lengths then held on to win the Inland Petroleum Benchmark 45 Handicap (1200m) from Humboldt (Banks, $11) and Bray (Gallagher, $3 favourite).
Rebecca's Quest (Gallagher, $5) has been in good form for Menindee trainer Wayne Marsden and after being the joint leader broke clear to win the Benchmark 58 Handicap (900m).
Trainer Brett Robb and jockey Gallagher, both from Nyngan, combined to win the Maiden Plate (1400m) with Cheselbeach ($2.20 fav.).
