On Wednesday, Dubbo South Public School will launch its Grow Your Mind whole school approach to positive mental health.
The Grow Your Mind whole school approach is a curriculum-aligned, wellbeing program designed for schools, children and families with engaging evidence-based positive mental health strategies.
The program will teach students how to develop resilience, brain awareness, compassion, gratitude, mindfulness and courage.
Dubbo South Public School assistant principal and wellbeing leader Renae Giddings said the program would help remove the negative stigma associated with mental health.
"Poor mental health is a serious issue, but mental health education does not have to be," Ms Giddings said.
"We want to see students, teachers and families with the same awareness of looking after their mental health as they do for their physical health."
"Grow Your Mind program makes complex topics such as brain awareness, resilience, mindfulness and compassion relatable for young children."
Dubbo South Public School principal Sharon Murray said the program was a whole school event that allowed the entire school community to come together to learn about positive mental health.
"Our world is fast paced and constantly changing," Ms Murray said.
"At Dubbo South Public we want to support all of our students to be aware and have access to the tools they need to allow their minds to thrive."
Rather than a one-day event, the launch will signify how Dubbo South Public School will be starting an ongoing journey with Grow Your Mind.
On Wednesday students will engage in an array of positive mental health focused activities which have been broken up into four stage categories upon varying age groups.
The activities range from podcasts, gym sessions to pre-evaluation surveys and the Big Bucket Challenge.
