The Dubbo RSL Aquatic and Health Club hosted a "back to the '80s" day on March 25, inviting people to dust off their leotards and leg warmers for the cause.
Staff and club members embraced the idea put forward by Laura Powning, donning colourful outfits and digging deep.
Health club manager Carmen Appleby said by Tuesday donations totalled $1000.
A lot of staff and members knew someone with MS - a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system and for which there is no cure - and it was a cause they were happy to get behind, she said.
"One of my close friends was recently diagnosed with MS," she said.
The theme of the day had also proved a hit, with aerobics classes showing their best 80s moves and the decade's best music playing all day, Ms Appleby said.
"The '80s instantly feels like fun, it takes you back to what was obviously a great time," Ms Appleby said.
The health club manager herself dressed up as a cassette player.
"It was extra funny because the kids in the swimming lessons didn't know what a cassette was and I had to get one out and show them," Ms Appleby said.
