Hockey carnival held in Dubbo attracts some of the best in the country

The carnival ran for three days over the weekend and now will become an annual event with many teams interested in returning next year and already teams are contacting Dubbo hockey for date's for next year.

There will be a big push to get Dubbo's second turf hold many events like this in the future after the widespread success of the weekends tournament.

Players had to battle tricky conditions with heavy rain hitting Dubbo on Sunday which made things difficult for the players.

In division 1 Parkes and Amighty industries (ACT) played each other and the full time score was 1 all, making them joint premier's.

Parkes played outstanding hockey all weekend in their six games finishing undefeated at the end of the day.

In their first match on Friday evening, Parkes defeated Dubbo 2-1 with goals to Teegan Rodgers and Sue McGrath.

On Saturday, Parkes drew 1-1 with Almighty Industries (Teegan Rodgers), defeated Helz Gels 2-0 (Denise Gersbach, Teegan Rodgers) and defeated Buzzards 1-0 (Naomi Spark). Parkes once again defeated Buzzards 1-0 (Naomi Spark) to progress to the final where they met the tough Almighty Industries side once again.

In an exciting final, Parkes claimed the joint victory when they scored the final goal with 30 seconds remaining in the match.

Goals in the final were scored by Sue McGrath and Denise Gersbach.

In Division 2 Newy crew played ATP with the Newy Crew coming out winners with the 2 nil win. Dubbo had two teams nominated, one in Division 1 and the other in Division 2 both teams played very good hockey making the semifinals.

A high light of the carnival was the Dash for Cash, which was full of laughter Gabbie Welham from Sydney was the out right winner.

The Masters in the Bush carnival was a huge success for the newly elected hockey board, gaining very positive feedback from the Dubbo Community and the visiting teams, commenting on the country hospitality.
