Coming off three straight victories, the Cougars had their depth tested last week in a close win over Rugby but Nelson feels the side are ready to go.
"We're coming off a couple of good wins and I think we are quietly confident, I don't think we are boasting about anything but we've been here and done it, it's time to get stuck in," he said.
"I think we've beat Newtown most times we've played them this year and we are going into it like nothing's different."
Over the last several seasons CYMS has been known as the younger side in the competition but experienced or not, Nelson feels his side can produce a good performance Saturday.

"They'll (Newtown) always be in the contest no matter what, they're a bit of an older side so they've got a bit of experience but it's nothing to fear, we just have to do what we've been doing and that's the best thing about it," he said
"I think we have kind of been putting stepping stones to peak at the right time which I think is important, I think we are building nicely going into these finals."
Nelson, Lachlan Strachan and Tom Coady may be among the top run-scorers this year but Nelson has belief in CYMS' depth.
"I'm pretty confident with the players we have that everyone who bats or bowls can do a job," Nelson said.
"There is no real expectation on myself or anyone else. I think we bat right down to 11 and I think it shows in our stats this year that everyone contributed in some way and I'm looking forward to see everyone play.
"I do set pretty high expectations of myself so I want do well but I know it's not the be all and end all because we are a pretty complete team across the park."
Nelson also heaped praise on keeper-batsman Coady, who may be playing his final game in Dubbo on Saturday before moving to Sydney to pursue a cricketing career.
"I reckon he is the best player in Dubbo," Nelson said.
"I think behind the stumps he is meticulous and with the bat he is a dominating force. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in our team bat but he sums up the conditions well as well so I think he will stand up and the bigger the occasion the better he goes."
Play begins at 1pm at No 1 Oval.
