Australian Red Cross Dubbo hosted CPR Saturday and medical expo at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
The free expo not only allowed people to learn or refresh their CPR skills, it also put attendees face-to-face with medical experts in a range of fields.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Australian Red Cross Dubbo first aid trainer and coordinator of the event George Chapman said while the numbers were "disappointing" he still considered the expo a success.
The event was organised to ensure more residents knew life-saving skills like CPR.
"With over 160 automated external defibrillators in the local government area it is essential that everyone over the age of 10 knows what to do in an emergency and how to use a defibrillator," Mr Chapman said.
About 200 people attended on Saturday and Mr Chapman said all of the trainers reported they had a busy day and that everyone who attended was more than willing to learn.
On the medical expo side, there was also positive news. Exhibitors were also happy with the day and asked for it to be held again next year, Mr Chapman said.
The event was attended by former yellow Wiggle Greg Page who spent four hours talking to the public and even took the opportunity to learn CPR. Mr Page is passionate about CPR after it saved his life last year.
Mr Chapman thanked Dubbo Regional Council for waiving the cost of the DRTCC hire for the day and the staff, who he said were fantastic.
