The inaugural Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is being described as the 'biggest ever music festival staged in outback NSW' which will run over three days with 4,000 100 square metre camping sites on offer.
Outback Music Festival Group director and founder Greg Donovan said it is an event for all ages, dogs are welcomed and it will be a matter of bringing your own alcohol for those of the legal drinking age.
"We're having it as a bring your own event alcohol event. We will have a lot of food vendors there and they will have non-alcoholic drinks, but at this stage, we won't have a separate bar," Mr Donovan said.
"It is literally barren, bare grounds out there but we're gonna have a little pop-up city there over the three days. We will bring in plenty of toilets and food and drink vendors but there won't be any showers.
"People will need to bring wet wipes or whatever they need to keep themselves clean and I recommend bringing a good water supply with you.
"It's all onsite camping. We will have 4000 campsites available- plenty of space for everybody.
"We expect a lot of caravans, tents, camper trailers, and everybody gets like a 100 square metre campsite, so everybody will have a nice, big site they can use."
Mr Donovan said the planning has been underway for three years but COVID-19 pushed them to 'crack on'.
"Planning has been in works on and off for about three years. Been planing in the Furness for probably the last year, since COVID-19 hit, we made the decision to crack on and really get into the planning," he said.
"We had to take the leap of faith and hope COVID-19 would eventually settle down, and it's looking that way."
Mr Donovan said the bash aims to mimic the annual Big Red Bash music festival at Birdsville but with easier access.
"We've been doing the Big Red Bash at Birdsville for so many years and it's been a really successful event, we've been sold out for the Big Red Bash for the last year or so," he said.
"More and more people are wanting to go to those sorts of events. A lot of people who were interested in experiencing an event out in the outback, in the red dirt, were a little bit worried about driving to Birdsville and going on all of the dirt roads.
"We thought if we had an event that might be a little more accessible to people but was still a similar experience would provide more people with the option."
The lineup or artists set to perform includes but is not limited to Australian rock legends Paul Kelly, Tim Finn, John Williamson, Kate Ceberano, Ian Moss, Shannon Noll, the Radiators, Ross Wilson, Vika AND Linda, Mi-Sex, The Chantoozies, Marc Gable, Dragon, Glenn Shorrock, Wendy Matthews and Shane Howard.
Tickets will be online via the event website from March 23.
The bash will run from August 19 to August 21, 2021.
