It has set about planting 17 new trees at the western ends of Bultje, Wingewarra and Talbragar streets.
The selected tree species are Angophora floribunda (rough barked apple) and Zelkova serrata "Green Vase" (Japanese Elm).
The council has put $200,000 into the project to supplement the $440,000 it received from the federal government's Drought Resilience Funding--Urban Landscapes.
