Year 12 hospitality students at St John's College will have the opportunity to be inspired by thriving businesses run locally by former students each fortnight as part the colleges new Industry Engagement Project.

The project welcomes a guest to host an after school demonstration for the students once a fortnight.
The first session ran on Thursday, with Food At Yours owner Caitlyn Amor demonstrating how to make her favourite chocolate brownie with dark chocolate ganache, mascarpone cream and a raspberry coulis.

"When I was invited I was really excited. I think we were one of the years to use this kitchen and it's so nice to be back because it's such a beautiful kitchen," Miss Amor laughs.
"It's a bit different coming back now as a guest and not a student, but it's been nice.
"I cooked first and then the students went and did their own, and they did so well. I was very proud of them.
"I think it's important to know owning a business is really just a learning curve.
"It's very hard sometimes and you have days where you doubt yourself but then you always get those good reviews and feedback that remind you it's worth it.
"I dove in there, so think my advice to these students would be to get in there, give it a go, pursue your dreams and persevere."
Project organiser Lee O'Leary said the sessions help the students by showing them the different pathways available for them within the hospitality realm whilst also giving them inspiration.
"It's good for them to be aware of the many areas within the hospitality industry," she said.
Hospitality teacher Nicole Bussey, who taught Miss Amor when she was a student, said it is the first time they have invited guests to the school.
"It's great to be able to be keeping it local, our first three guests are all former St John's College hospitality students who went on to establish local businesses,' she said.
"It's also a good way to provide our year 12 hospitality students with the skills to be able to work in a kitchen confidentiality."
The project is supported and funded by the Catholic Education Diocese Bathurst, the Regional Industry Education Partnerships Program and Training Services NSW.
