Women supporting women has always been on the forefront for support group Dubbo Violence Prevention Collective (DVPC), but that message is one they take pride in reiterating on International Women's Day.

Each year the collective hosts a free Ladies Movie Night to coincide with International Women's Day, March 12, in celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of our local women.
The event also calls upon awareness against bias and urges action for the acceleration of gender equality.
Chair of DVPC, Angela Coker is urging the women among of community to get behind the event.
"International Women's Day events are a great opportunity for women to celebrate their achievements, increasing visibility, while calling out inequality which is key to helping forge a gender equal world," she said.
"Make a date with your friends to get together, connect, relax in a friendly, supportive environment and enjoy a well-deserved night out."
The movie Ride Like A Girl will be the film of choice for the night- focusing on the true story of Michelle Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup.
The theme 2021 International Women's Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge, a campaign promoting that a challenged world is an alert world.
Those interested in attending will be require to bring a chair or rug and a picnic.
The event will be held at the Japanese Gardens, Dubbo, on Friday, March 12 from 6.30pm.
