After 2020 saw the closure of The Salvation Army Family Store in Dubbo, the retail arm of the Salvation Army is now going open on Talbragar Street.
Salvos Stores area manager Jeff McCartney feels this is an exciting time for Dubbo.
"This is going to be a great addition to the other expressions we already have including the church and it's associated activities," Mr McCartney said.
"We're looking forward to this being, not just another store in town, but also another place where people will be able to connect with all that The Salvation Army has to offer our community,"
After a tough 2020 Mr McCartney admitted quite an impact was made on the charity.
"2020 had quite an impact on The Salvation Army in the Orana Region especially with regards to holistic care and support for our local community that we strive provide,"
"Not only did our Family Store close however we had to temporarily close a number of our localised programs.
"There is no doubt that the pandemic has impacted our many volunteers who so generously give their time however we are now able to provide safe volunteering opportunities for them at Salvos Stores and other locations."
After recently celebrating a milestone in the area Mr McCartney feels that the Salvation Army is here to stay.
"We have just celebrated 135 years in the Orana region and there is a great history of Salvos being there for people at their lowest point," he said.
"Our region has suffered over the last few years with devastating drought, bush fire emergencies and most recently the pandemic
"Our services will continue to adapt to meet the needs that are being presented and speak up for those in the community that need their voices heard."
The Salvation Army store is due to open on Thursday March 11.
