The electric full-back and winger will be hoping to make in impression this weekend we he will line-up for the Knights against local Newcastle side Cessnock Goannas.
Van Dartel, a former Macquarie Raider moved to Newcastle following a successful two year stint with the Canberra Raiders Under 20s side.
Now playing for South Newcastle, van Dartel has made quite the impression after the side made the 2020 grand final but were defeated by the Cessnock Goannas.

Currently not contracted by the club, van Dartel can push his claim to be apart of the NSW Cup squad which will compete in 2021 after COVID cancelled the 2020 season.
Like van Dartel other former Western juniors will play in NRL trials this weekend.
St George Illawarra Dragons forward Kaide Ellis and former Super League player Charly Runciman will line-up again this weekend against the Parramatta Eels on Friday night.
Penrith Panthers Matt Burton, Billy Burns and Charlie Staines will all get their first run of the season when they face NSW Cup side Mounties.
While the draw is yet to be released, it is understood that the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg (Under 20s) will start the same weekend as the NRL, with the majority of the games played before Saturday and Sunday NRL games.
