While a third placed finish for the Kylie Kennedy trained Wild Rocket snapped a win-streak dating back to July of last year earlier this month, the Country Championships hopeful was again in fine form this past weekend.

Racing in the Country Championships Preview race at Dubbo Turf Club on Sunday, Wild Rocket proved themselves every bit the correct favourite to back with a narrow win in the all important fixture.
While the Gayna Williams trained Redirect led heading into the final stretch, a pitched battle along the rails with Leo Harland's Patrick May provided the perfect opportunity for a final burst of speed to carry Wild Rocket around the outside of the two leaders and into the forefront with a second to spare.

A scant 0.12 fraction of a length was all that separated the two determined fighters as they crossed the line tangled together.
Brett Thompson's Amy's Shadow finished fourth, while Kennedy's other hope, recent debutante Pamela, came in fifth.
In the other fixtures, Brett 'Snow' Robb claimed a win with Messy Miss in the 1100m Daily Liberal Benchmark, charging through the middle of the pack late in a come from behind win just ahead of the Clint Lundholm trained Dusky Damsel.
Wayne Collison rounded out the third and fourth spots with A Martin Placepick and Niccolon.
