Fire and Rescue NSW officers are reminding people to report any spillages or debris they see on roads as a matter of safety, after an oil leak caused chaos for drivers at Dubbo on Monday afternoon.

Crews from both the Dubbo and Delroy stations were tasked to the spill at about 3pm on Monday, which originated near the Cobra Street and Sheraton Road roundabout and stretched some way along the highway.
With NSW Police also called to the scene to help manage traffic firefighters cleaned up the spill in about 45 minutes, avoiding any environmental impact.

"We had all appliances from the Dubbo station on site and one from [Delroy] as well," Fire and Rescue NSW Dubbo station officer Chris Cusack explained.
"There is some danger being on a highway so we wanted to get the spill cleaned up as quickly as possible, as a matter of safety.
"The cause of the spill was a sump plug falling out of a truck and it impacted a stretch of Cobra Street, caused a bit of chaos for traffic actually.
"Oil and fluid spills like that can be really dangerous for motorists, especially people riding motorcycles, so people should try to report them as soon as they see anything."
