Round 15 of the competition is shaping up as a tricky one with rain forecast for the morning.
Macquarie fell to third on the ladder after losing to Newtown last weekend but Haylock still believes his side is more than capable of making a big impact this season.
"We are lacking a bit of consistency with the bat mainly but we are still confident that we have got the side to challenge this competition," Haylock said.
Haylock feels Colts' ability to still produce performances in tough times is one of the reasons why they are the current ladder leaders.
"Their ability to stand up when required, both Mitch (Bower) and Charlie (Kempston) have been strong at the top for them but when they have failed Marty (Jeffrey) and Brad Cox have been able to do the job and that keeps sliding down their list, they are challenging all the way through," he said.

With just three points separating second and fourth, every game is shaping up as an important one but Haylock feels if his side focus on their own game they will be present on grand final day.
"We are still in control of our own destiny, obviously, if we win our games we're going to be playing in the last week of March," he said.
"We are confident we can match them (RSL-Colts), compete with them and come away with the win."
Haylock is hoping his experienced and dangerous top five can stand up with the bat.
"Our top five in general need to step up in general and take a bit more responsibility on. Jason (Green), Myles (Smith), myself, Ben (Strachan) and Rick (Medway)," he said.
A key piece to the Macquarie's side is entertaining all-rounder Angus Cusack, who returned for his first game of the season last weekend. He and Strachan pose a bowling combination that many batsman in Dubbo will be wary of.
In the rounds other games, Newtown will be looking to put the pressure of a South Dubbo Hornets side that is missing captain Angus Norton.
Newtown scraped over the line last week against Macquarie while Souths were defeated by CYMS, but stand-in skipper Adam Wells showed signs that he is not far away from a big score.
Rugby are proving a tough side to battle this season and will be hoping to down CYMS when they meet at No. 1 Oval.
Rugby youngster Darcy Chewings made 69 last time the two sides met.
Play starts 1pm.
