"It's pretty amazing, it feels like a long time coming. This award isn't for me, it's for all the kids up at Apollo Estate and all the vulnerable kids I work with in Dubbo," Mr Boney said.
Accepting the award during the Australia Day ceremony on Tuesday, Mr Boney said it was 'pretty amazing' to receive the honour.
Mr Boney began his role as a trainee Youth Worker at LeaderLife three years ago and it was there he developed a passion for working with kids, often driving the bus around the neighbourhood, helping kids get to school and get home safe.
The younger residents enjoy Mr Boney, who has a good sense of humour and a lust for fun.
"I'd like to thank the team at LeaderLife, the (Dubbo Regional) council for taking the time and presenting this award to me but I'd like to thank the kids I work with, who if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here today,"
As part of this role, he also works alongside Dubbo's youth in the Soil2Soul program, which is designed to teach young Indigenous men about farming and helping run a small stall at the Dubbo Growers' Markets.
Mr Boney has also shown his commitment to development events and youth programs, such as PCYC's Friday Night Youth Program.
Also a keen sportsman, Mr Boney trains Indigenous young people at touch football and making himself available to anyone who might be in a tough situation, in trouble with the police, or just in need of a friendly ear.

"It's unreal, I keep missing phone calls from the council which doesn't help but I'm thankful for being here and this award and I can't wait to take this back to the home and back to the Bronx (Apollo Estate) and show it to all the kids I work with and share this with them, I can't wait to show them tomorrow."
Devoting time to community togetherness, Mr Boney can often be found greeting guest at the drive-in, and ensuring locals and tourists alike enjoy their experience while attending the event.
