A full ten length margin separated Diesel from their closest rival, Amanda Ginn's Sceptre, followed closely by Wesley McDonald staple Brooklyn Fusion.
Ashman's other offerings on the evening, Winlock Bluey and Yanderra Rip both fared well also, with each finding a second place finish in their chosen events.

Bluey, who's been a consistent performer for the Wellington based kennel and her family's venture fell behind Len Haaring's Platinum Desire in the seventh race of the evening, while Yanderra Rip showed their promise a few races later on the night.
Rip, who was singled out by the trainer before the event as someone to watch following a clean run of form that seemed to promise a big result, found it on Saturday night, beating the Kylie McDonald trained Fusion Spy to the finishing post, but falling behind Len Haaring's well regarded runner Arrogant Lillie.
Other winners on the night included Pamela Braddon's Lightning Blazer in the evening's opener, followed quickly by Tania Trappett's Spring Hill Girl, who secured a maiden breakthrough in the second race of the evening.
Paul Braddon, Kylie McDonald, John Portelli, Amanda Ginn and Richard Hawker rounded out the list of winning trainers.
