It's freezing a moment of time so that it can never be forgotten, it's capturing the beauty of life's elements through a lens, it's enticing emotion, imagination and thought process through visual stimulation.
It's an art, unique in itself, and no two photographer's are the same.
In our Life of a Photographer series we talk to Dubbo based photographers about what life behind the lens is like. This week we start with Caleb McLean.
Q: Why inspired you to get into the realm of photography?
A: Funny story actually, I started off moving schools due to bullying and the new school had photography as a subject and I thought "eh may as well it might be fun", four years later and here we are.

Q: What is your favourite thing about photography?
A: The people and the stories, 100 per cent.
Q: How would you best describe your style?
A: Hmm, I would probably say I'm still developing my own unique style, but I love taking photos of and with people if that counts.
Q: Are there any challenges photographers face that the general public isn't aware of?
A: Yes, how difficult it is to get gigs/jobs when starting out.
Q: Can you describe any images you've captured during your career that will forever hold a special place in your heart and why?
A: Well there's one with my sister (Kiara Mclean) with the tattoo on her back showing and that tattoo is a tribute to our sister who passed away In 1992 (before Kiara and I were born) from a development issue when she was only a few months old.
Q: What does capturing a moment in time mean to you?
A: Everything. It can change someone's life seeing a photo.
Q: What does a day in the life of a photographer look like?
A: Like everyone else, just with a camera around our neck and sometimes on our face, haha.
Q: How do you come up with different settings for images?
A: "Hey, this street's cool let's get some photos here"
Q: Is there anything about the Central West that provides photographers with unique opportunities?
A: I don't do a lot of landscape stuff but the colours of our sunsets are to die for.
Q: Any advice for those who aspire to become photographers?
A: Don't get too lost in what gear you have. It's fun to buy cool stuff but don't spend if you can't afford it.
