A woman will face court after allegedly grabbing a police officer around the neck in Parkes.

About 3.30pm on Thursday, an officer from Parkes Traffic and Highway Patrol approached a 49-year-old woman in a stationary Holden Vectra in a fast food restaurant carpark on the corner of Bogan and Grenfell streets, Parkes.
As the male senior constable approached the woman, its alleged she began verbally abusing him.
When he attempted to conduct a breath test, she exited the vehicle and allegedly grabbed him around the neck.

The officer managed to break free and while attempting to restrain the woman, but sustained a laceration to his hand.
The senior constable was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Parkes Hospital where he received stiches.
The woman was also taken to Parkes Hospital with a hand injury.
She has since been issued a Court Attendance Notice for assault police, resist arrest and refuse breath test.
The woman is expected to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday, February 15.
