A 25-year-old p-plater has had her licence suspended for six months after she was caught going 148 kilometres per hour by NSW Police.

About 1.50pm Sunday, Central North Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed-enforcement duties on the Castlereagh Highway at Walgett when they detected a Nissan X-Trail allegedly going at 148 km/h.
The driver was stopped and issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice for exceeding the speed limit more than 45km/h.
Her licence was also suspended for six months.

It's one of more than 2200 speeding infringement notices to have been issued by police since the start of the Christmas and New Year's road safety operation.
The state-wide road safety operation started at midnight on Thursday, December 24 and end at 11.59pm on Sunday, January 3.
Double-demerit points are in force throughout the period for speeding, seatbelt, mobile phone and motorcycle helmet offences.
NSW Police officers will also be targeting other high-risk driver behaviour, including the Four Ds: drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.
During the road safety operation period more than 68,000 breath tests have been conducted, resulting in 177 charges.
There have also been 228 major crashes and two fatalities.
