A NARROMINE man has been refused bail after allegedly assaulting a police officer in the state's Orana region.

At approximately 4pm on Thursday, December 24, an officer attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a home on Merilba Street, Narromine, following reports of a domestic-related incident.
The male senior constable exited his vehicle on arrival and was allegedly repeatedly punched in the head by a 27-year-old man.
The officer fell to the ground where the assault continued, knocking the officer unconscious.
A woman, known to the man, intervened and the officer was able to regain consciousness.
The man then took the officers radio, smashing the police vehicle's windscreen before throwing it across the road.

The officer was able to call for assistance from inside his vehicle, before a member of the public rendered aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.
Further police attended to assist the officer, arrested the man at the scene and transported him to Narromine Police Station.
The officer was first taken to Narromine Hospital, then conveyed to Dubbo Hospital for further treatment, before being released.
The Narromine man was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV), resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, affray, destroy or damage property, driver vehicle under influence of alcohol and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
After initially being refused bail and appearing in Dubbo Bail Court on Friday, December 25, he was further refused bail and is set to appear in Dubbo Court on Monday, January 11.
