The incident happened at the busy intersection of Cobra Street and Wheelers Lane, and disrupted traffic for several hours.
Inspector William Russell said about 4am a Kenworth prime mover carrying a refrigerated trailer was travelling west along Cobra Street and attempted to enter the roundabout to turn right.
As the 37-year-old driver attempted the turn, the vehicle tipped on to the passenger side. All eastbound Cobra Street and northbound Wheelers Lane traffic was blocked as a result.
There was a small fuel leak which caught fire before it was quickly extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
The driver was breath-tested and returned a negative result, Inspector Russell said.
The vehicle was fully recovered and lifted back on to its wheels about 8am and towed from the scene.
Investigations were continuing into the cause of the incident, the inspector said.
