Central North Police District officer awarded NSW Police Force Domestic Violence Practitioner of the Year

Senior Constable Nicole Pitt, who has been stationed at Brewarrina for the past two years, was awarded the title for her work in the community.

In addition to her general duties role, senior constable Pitt has focused on connecting with disadvantaged youth, specifically young girls to address the issues experienced in remote communities.

Her efforts have resulted in improved police and community relationships, the provision of essential hygiene items and recreational equipment, as well as contributing to the success of support programs implemented in the town.

Another western region officer, senior constable Jessica Pank was also ranked in the top three finalists.

Senior constable Pank transferred to Bourke in early 2019 as a general duties officer, before taking on the role of Domestic Violence Officer in April 2020.

She has demonstrated her dedication and tenacity in supporting domestic violence victims and collaboratively case managing offenders to reduce intergenerational issues in the community.

Central North Police District Commander, superintendent Andrew Hurst said he was proud of the achievements of both officers.

"They were deserving of being nominated for the awards as their efforts go above and beyond to address domestic and family violence in their communities," he said.

"Both officers - who are attached to Central North Police District - consistently demonstrate a strong focus on reducing domestic and family violence."
