Dubbo Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to the car which was alight on Wheelers Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
According to FRNSW, while firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, the vehicles fuel tank ruptured causing a running fuel fire.
"Firefighters quickly extinguished this fire as well as preventing fuel from entering the storm water drain," FRNSW said.
It is believed there were five occupants in the vehicle, and there were no injuries reported.
