Kenneth Gardoll of Railway Lane, Dubbo, represented himself, pleading guilty to two charges of driving with the presence of an illicit drug in his blood.

According to police facts the 62-year-old was driving a maroon Holden commodore when he was stopped by police at Caltex at Orana Mall for a random testing on April 16.

While he returned a negative alcohol reading, he tested positive for methamphetamine in his system.

He was taken to Dubbo Police station where police say Mr Gardoll denied taking the drugs.

"I haven't taken any drugs this year, I don't know what is happening," police facts reveal he said.

Under a month later according to facts on May 10, Mr Gardoll was again stopped by police while driving a silver Nissan X-Trail at about 5.30pm at Armstrong Cresent for a random testing.

Mr Gardoll tested positive for methamphetamine and was taken to Dubbo Police Station.

According to police facts in relation to the taking of drugs, Mr Gardoll said "I don't take it, maybe it's in my medication".

The court heard Mr Gardoll was fined with a similar offence in 2019.

"Obviously if you want to continue driving you've got to be careful you don't have any drugs in your system, because it's dangerous to you and to other road users," Magistrate Theresa Hamilton said in court.

Magistrate Hamilton said she would take into account Mr Gardoll's early pleas of guilt and was "entitled to have his penalty reduced".

Mr Gardoll was fined $700 and disqualified from driving for six months, for both offences.
