Mrs Jones said she was surprised and shocked by the announcement as she hadn't been aware she had been nominated for the award until she was informed by Dubbo College Delroy Campus principal Debbie Head that she was a recipient.
Mrs Jones has worked at the Delroy Campus for a decade and was presented the award due to her 'outstanding manner in which she approaches all aspects of her position', which includes the management of more than eight classes.
"I'm honoured," she said.
"I think a lot of people have worked really hard and in challenging circumstances and I think I was only given the award due to having such a good team of people around me.
"I was very, very shocked and surprised when Debbie called me and told me."
Mrs Jones said the foundation usually hosts a big awards ceremony in Sydney, but this year they couldn't because of COVID-19, so the news is being celebrated within school environments instead.
The awards are presented by the Public Education Foundation to teachers, students, schools and parents across the states public schools on behalf of The Hon. Sarah Mitchell MLC, Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning and Mr Mark Scott AO, Secretary of the NSW Department of Education.
Mrs Jones' award citation describes her as being a well respected and valued member of the school, with her organisational and leadership skills being significantly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Jones said she loves her job as she loves connecting with her students and seeing their growth both academically and within their wellbeing.
"I work with a large team, a really good team, Delroy as a whole is a really supportive team of teachers who have each others backs and who work as a team to problem solve and to help each other out," she said.
