Given their relative standings on the competition ladder, few would have thought the Gilgandra Panthers would have much trouble diffusing the Binnaway Bombshells in Saturday's Christie and Hood Castlereagh League fixture.

Even fewer would have thought that the Bombshells would have been in front at half-time of the round seven match, especially when they took to the field with a sparsely populated bench.
And while they may not have hung on in the second half as fatigue took its toll, it was a hugely determined effort the club had every reason to be proud of.
After seeing their side lead 6-4 at half-time Bombshell supporters could well have been forgiven for thinking an upset of gigantic proportions was on the cards when their hooker Dillon Tighe finished off a breakout try from near their own goal line in the third minute of the second half to stretch the lead out to 10-4.
If the Panthers needed a wake-up call that was it and they began to click into gear and throw the ball around against an understandably tiring defence, gaining the lead in the 12th minute of the second half after scoring two tries and then racing in another four before full time while whistle.
The Bombshells nabbed a late consolation as it finished 42-16.
In the earlier games, the Panther Cubs registered an upset 22-12 win over the Bombshells in the Youth League match and the Pink Panthers won an entertaining League Tag game 30-16.
At Dunedoo, the home side ran out winners against the visiting Coonamble Bears taking the League Tag match 38-6 and the first grade side also got the job downing, scoring a 38-10 win.
At Baradine the long trip by the Cobar Roosterettes was made that little more difficult after they suffered a 32-6 defeat.
Round 8 will be played this coming Saturday and there Coonamble will host Gilgandra in three grades and it will be the same case when Binnaway takes on the Cobar Roosters at 'The Crater'.
The top of the table Ladies League Tag clash between Dunedoo and Baradine, which will attract great interest, will take place at Dunedoo.
