Last week, the Macquarie Regional Library branch installed a new mural along the wall of the kids area. The large-scale mural features Australian animals hooking in to their favourite books.
Library manager Kathryn McAlister said the mural design and concept came from the library's own Melissa Dunkerley.

"We have people on staff who banded together and created our in-house masterpiece," she said.
"We hope it will bring children enjoyment by looking at it and there's also a little bit of education in it as well."
Ms McAlister said she wanted the mural to be educational, while also highlighting something children love - animals. It was installed to make the children's area more welcoming.
Ms McAlister said there was "more to come" in the library's plan make the building more friendly.
