Vietnam veterans and community members congregated at Victoria Park on Saturday, Victory in the Pacific (VP) Day, to commemorate the end of a more than three-year war, our ex-servicemen and those who did not return home to their families.
Dubbo RSL Sub-Branch president Tom Gray said VP Day is a day that should be recognised infinitely, as it represents a significant event in Australia's history.
On this day, 75-years-ago, families were informed that their loved ones would be coming home

"On VP Day, we remember Australia's war efforts from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific region," Mr Gray said.
"As the anniversary of the day World War II ended, it's a date that we'll never forget.
"On this day, 75-years-ago, families were informed that their loved ones would be coming home. Communities lit up again and people were dancing in the streets.
"I was born towards the end of World War II, but I can assure you, it was a bitter-sweet moment in history."
