The Mud Run was initially scheduled for March, however when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the committee rescheduled for October 17.
This week, the committee announced the October date was too risky and the event would be cancelled.
In a post on their Facebook page, the Mud Run committee said the health and safety of friends and families had to come first.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"We worked really hard to try and find an option for our participants but let's face it a virtual obstacle event or someone standing there disinfecting every obstacle and expecting 1.5 metre social distancing isn't near as much fun as high fiving, helping each other [and] partying at the finish line." the post said.
"It's sure not in the spirit of our social event - so let's put all our training, laughter, teamwork and joy into the next epic MAAS Titan Macquarie Mud Run."
Those who signed up for the event are encouraged to transfer their tickets until the 2021 event.
However "regrettable refunds" have been offered to those who want their money returned.
The date for the 2021 mud run has not been determined.
The committee thanked everyone for their patience, understanding and kindness.
