The Fusion Fire side held off Inspire Panthers in a close-fought contest on Saturday, winning 56-41 to take a hold of top spot on the ladder.
Both sides had scored wins in the first two rounds but the result has the Panthers slipping to third on the ladder.
Three-time defending champions Fusion Heat now sits second, despite winning on the court for the first time on Saturday.
Heat received a forfeit in round one then scored a 36-all draw with Narromine in the grand final rematch before a commanding win over the Macquarie Hornets on Saturday.
Heat won 69-38 to keep the pressure on their clubmates at the top.
Elsewhere on the weekend, Narromine scored a 47-30 win over St Comebacks while St Diamonds recorded a first win of the season when downing the Dubbo Rhinos Rebels 48-35.
Things don't get any easier for the winless Rhinos as they meet Fusion Fire next weekend.
