Nyngan dance teacher Angie White is the driving force behind the plan to secure funding for the development of a multi-purpose cultural centre in the town.
The Bogan Shire Council announced its plans to build a cultural centre at the back of the town hall after the Palais theatre building was dismantled - but in order to do so the community has been asked to raise a lump-sum of $10 million in funding.
Despite the daunting figure, Mrs White is positive, with community backing, it can be done.
"I'm hoping we can secure the funding as the new centre would serve so many among the community. There's art groups who would love to use the space for exhibitions and the schools could use it for the end of year performances as well as conferences," Mrs White said.
Mrs White, who has been running her dancing lessons at the Palais for more than 20 years, is also in need of new centre space for her classes.
"The council are doing the best they can and have many projects that need attention, so I'm hoping through the support of the community and by working as a team we can make this happen," she said.
"The funding is out there, we just have to find out how to get to it."
Mrs White is encouraging anyone with extensive knowledge and insight into funding and grants, who may be able to help, to point her in the right direction.
