The locals ran out victorious at home after a hat-trick from the Spurs' scoring ace Jake Grady boosted them beyond the Barnies' attempts to claw back the lead.
Spurs captain Jared Corby says the discipline and devotion shown in the lop-sided win is the perfect spring-board for a successful WPL campaign.
"I'm really proud of the boys, we'd lost three games in a row and finally we were able to get off to a good start and we held on really well to it," Corby said.

"It feels great to get off the mark, finally find a bit of that rhythm we've missed and get our first win, we'll just have to work from there."
While the long-awaited victory didn't come without a struggle, the adjustments made to ensure it were relatively simple, with Corby's side withstanding the pressure to perform in front of the home-crowd.
"We lifted our intensity a bit and tried to have a bit of fun, got back to the simple stuff and didn't put too much pressure on ourselves," Corby said.
"It's good to get that first win on the board, hopefully now we can get on a roll, we're home for the next six weeks now and it'll be good to keep winning."

Another factor giving the rejuvenated side more confidence ahead of their mid-week clash at home against the reeling Dubbo Bulls is their struggle to field a full-strength side.
"It's promising to win just now, we haven't really had our strongest side all on the field at once yet, so that's another positive takeaway," Corby said.
"We're trying to get the same team on the park every week and make sure we work those new combinations, we've tweaked the side around a bit just to make sure everyone's comfortable as well."
While there's still along way to go if the Spurs want to feature in another grand final this year, the side is brimming with confidence and certain that they'll be able to make the climb in time.
Saturday's victory propelled the Spurs up a rung on the competition ladder, with just a point now separating them from the fifth placed Barnies.
"We're always confident coming into the competition, we know that we've got the talent and the team to do it," Corby said.
"All the Dubbo clubs, and all the other clubs, are really strong this year, we've just got to keep working and keep the team going and we'll be sweet."
