Macquarie United struck four times in the first half against the ladder-leading Dubbo Bulls on Thursday night on the way to score a resounding 5-2 win at Hans Claven Oval.
It made it back-to-back wins for the men in blue and moved them into a share of the lead with their local rivals.
It also provided a real confidence boost ahead of another derby clash with Orana Spurs on Sunday.
"We're one of the younger squads and to come away victorious against Bulls and put in a performance like that was good," Macquarie's Glen Schein said.
"There's still a lot to improve on but to get one over them when they've had it over us is good and keeps the momentum."
Jesse Spang continued his strong return to the lineup with two goals on Thursday night while Justin Pickering also scored and an own goal rounded out the scoring.
Will Grant also impressed in his first match of the season after spending time in the US while Schein and some of the side's older heads continue to guide the side around the park.

"We've heard people say we're a young side and some predictions we'd finish towards the bottom but that's alright," Schein said.
"We know how we play and that we've got quality players and we want to play in the finals and I think we've got a good shot at shaking up the competition.
"We've just got keep focused and we've got some older heads like Rhys [Osborne], Matt Smith, and myself to help keep the younger fellas on track."
Keeping everyone on track is the biggest focus right now.
While a tough win at Orange and wins over Parkes and the Bulls have made some sit up and take notice Schein knows his side can't look too much further than Sunday's battle with Spurs.
It's a busy period for all sides in the competition with three rounds being fit into 10 days at the moment.
"They'll be tough," Schein said of Spurs.
"They're a quality team and have got blokes who have been doing it for eight or 10 years like the Fergusons, Jake Grady, and Angus Cusack and they're well coached.
"They've had some mixed results so far so they'll be out for a win."
Sunday's match kicks off at 4.30pm at Hans Claven.
