A 14-year-old girl was arrested at a family farm in Gunnedah on Wednesday morning and is currently in custody at Gunnedah Police Station.
The incident - which has shocked the family, community members, and even police - unfolded on Wednesday morning.
A triple zero call alerted emergency services about 7.15am.

Police and paramedics rushed to the home after reports a 10-year-old girl had been seriously injured.
She died at the scene, police confirmed.
A crime scene was set up at the property, and detectives and forensic officers have been combing the home for much of the day.
Police are remaining tight-lipped on the incident and where it happened, but confirmed investigations are continuing.
