Emergency services received a triple-0 call that a car was on fire in a laneway off Dunheved Circle at 5am on Thursday.
Fire and Rescue NSW Dubbo Station Officer John Poulos said the car was well alight when crews arrived on scene.
"It was a small Nissan sedan and it was totally destroyed," he said.
"I'd say it was stolen, but police couldn't confirm that at the time."
It took around 10 minutes to extinguish the fire and the incident is now under investigation by police.
Station Officer Poulos said the car had been left in a laneway that backed onto Dubbo College Delroy Campus.
No other property was damaged or destroyed during the incident.
